Subatomic Sound System

Subatomic Sound System was founded in 1999 as a New York City collective of producers and musicians blending dub reggae, hip hop, dancehall, and jungle. Subatomic is known worldwide for legendary performances with Jamaican dub & reggae inventor Lee “Scratch” Perry, from 2007 until his passing. Subatomic innovated a one-of-a-kind hybrid electronic, dub oriented live act that hits like a sound system, improvises like a jazz band, and integrates the chemistry of 90s Jamaican vocal legend Screechy Dan and other stellar singers & live musicians, including Jamaican Hall of Fame conga maestro Larry McDonald. In 2023 Black Uhuru’s Mykal Rose recruited Subatomic for a series of epic live shows with the Marleys that led to their 2024 album “Rockin’ Like a Champion” album with the UK’s Hollie Cook.
